Meet Elyse!
|
Pictured to the left is one of the most wonderful women it has
been my pleasure to know. I first met Elyse when I applied for a
Graduate Student Staff Assistant position with the Rackham
Graduate School at the University
of Michigan.
Fortunately, I ended up getting the position! I worked with Elyse
for several years doing a variety of tasks: web work, database design
and implementation, proofreading, editing content, keeping each
other sane...
My time with Rackham was really wonderful and it was painful to
leave!

Over the years, I've learned a lot about style and design from
Elyse. Actually, I learned a lot more than that. Elyse taught me
this thing that I never fully comprehended: the importance of having
a LIFE. Frequently, she would have an intervention on my behalf
when she saw I was pushing myself too hard. I always thought I had
a healthy sense of humor, but I found that it really matured during
my time working with her.
In addition to being a great mentor, I also found out what a fantastic
mom she is to her lovely daughter, Lydia. I've had the pleasure
of socializing with them both during and after my time and Rackham.
The two of them are really amazing. Lydia is such a sweet girl;
just as observant, sensitive, and creative as her mother.

To the left, you see Dylan. He's Elyse's new dog (3 yrs old in
this picture; adopted in August 2004). She got him after Oscar
passed away earlier this year. He seems to be an excellent dog
and I know
for
a fact
he
has a good home now.
To the right, you see Elyse and Lydia at a birthday party we went
to together. (I know...I need to update this picture!)

Lately (since I moved out of town), I don't get to see
Elyse as much as I'd like, but that's my fault; we get together when
we can and I really enjoy those times! We still e-mail each other
and she checks out my site when I manage to get my lazy butt to make
some updates to it! (Yes...she edits it too...)
Sept 2004 - I recently went to Elyse's birthday
party! What a blast! We had such a great time there enjoying great
food and even better company. I have some pictures from the party,
but I want to get them approved by her before I post them here. |
